Annual Awards Dinner
This festive occasion, held on the Friday night
that occurs during the Chicago Midwinter Dental Meeting, began as a
salute to our Editorial Team, without whom REALITY could not be published. However, the other entity that is an essential link to the REALITY
mission is the dental manufacturing community. It was therefore decided
to expand the event to include the dental industry and provide a venue
in which excellence could be acknowledged and rewarded.
The first Awards Dinner was held in 1998. There was also another
surprise happening that evening. Dr. Michael Miller and Dr. Ingrid
Castellanos, president and vice president of REALITY,
not only renewed each other’s contract, but they also sealed the
bonds of holy matrimony. Yes, that's right--they got married at their
own party! And it was a surprise! As Steve Paskin from Kerr
perceptively remarked, "Leave it to Michael to figure out how to deduct
his own wedding!"
From that rather spectacular evening, this event has blossomed into the
"Oscars for Dental Manufacturers". Not only are the manufacturers with
Five Star products presented with crystal awards for their tremendous
achievements, there are now seven special awards that further recognize
all the imagination and hard work that is necessary to conceive and
produce the "best of the best".
